29 January 2013 ~ Cheung Chau Part III ~ Tung Wan Beach

Listening to: Willie Nelson ~ Whiskey River

After visiting Pak Tai Temple, the guidebook suggested taking Cheung Chau Beach Road. Luckily the road was easy to find.

What a beautiful walk along the beach in the sun.

I was surprised by the number of sun-bathers...it didn't seem that hot to me.

Still not used to the haircut!

 Kids were having fun...as usual.

One of the best landscape views I came across in Hong Kong.

I never found the abstract sculpture honoring Cheung Chau's most famous daughter, Lee Lai-san, who won Hong Kong's first-ever gold medal, for mistral sailing at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.

Instead, I found fishermen. Still worth the walk.

27 Jan 2013 ~ Cheung Chau Part II ~ Pak Tai Temple

Listening to: Joe Cocker ~ Feeling Alright

It's a quick trip down Praya Street, jumbled with shops, restaurants, and apartment blocks.

Just beyond the playing field, is the flamboyantly decorated Pak Tai Temple.

It features vibrantly colored glazed dragons and other figurines crowning its rook, carved granite pillars, gilded-wood carvings at its alter, and wall murals inside.

23 January 2013 ~ Cheung Chau - Part I

Listening to:   Cream ~ White Room

My last weekend in HK I took the ferry to the fishing island of Cheung Chau.

Nice view of HK Island leaving the pier.

Lots of bikes to greet us.

22 Jan 2013 ~ My Desk

Listening to:   Brownout ~ Business At Hand (Aguilas and Cobras)

I spend a lot of time at the office now, so much so that I rarely go home and get on the computer anymore, hence, the lack of posts.

I do hope to change that...if for nothing more than keeping this blog going.

That said, here's where I spend all my time -- My Desk.
At least I get a window, even though all I get to see is a parking lot.

11 Jan 2013 ~ Packers vs. 49ers

Listening to: Peter Rowan & Crucial Reggae ~ Rebel Music (Magnolia Fest, 10/20/01)

Big news of the day is the pending Packers vs. 49ers football playoff game.

Supposedly the answer to the cheesehead is the noggin' nugget.

I'll take the Packers any day.

10 Jan 2013 ~ Random

Listening to:  Guess Who ~ No Sugar Tonight / New Mother Nature

Happy Birthday!

I forgot how beautiful the sunsets/sunrises are on a daily basis (didn't really get to see them in HK). But now I get a sunrise almost every morning on the way to work. This was the sunset last night. Cool sky colors.

A blue jay visited.

I bought Skye a new play station.

6 Jan 2013 ~ Alligators

Listening to:  Emporers of Wyoming ~ Avalanche Girl

There was a very interesting exhibit of Alligators near my old HK work.

I'm not sure what the "Growing Up with Hong Kong - Crocodile 60th Anniversary" really refers to, but the alligators were pretty cool.

Enjoy!

1 Jan 2013 ~ Happy New Year!

Listening to: Santana ~ Moonflower

Happy 2013 Everyone! May your days be filled with sunshine and your outlook stay bright.

Moving back has been a whirlwind and I can't believe it's already been two weeks.

I worked a few days. Found an apartment. Still moving (I didn't realize how much I had in storage). Skye is back and looks extremely healthy.

Went to see the band Furthur in San Francisco for 3 nights of New Year festivities. Great setlists and great to see so many friends.

I'll keep up with the blog even though I am back. I still have some photos to share of my adventures. And I'm sure there will be new ones.
