21 May 2013 ~ Jackie Stevenson Dinner

I made a quick overnight trip to Minneapolis to attend the inaugural Jackie Stevenson Dinner.

It was amazing to hear the tributes paid to her and her family. Buck Humphrey (grandson of Hubert Humphrey) provided the Welcome Address the audience.

 

 

Scottie gave Invocation. Then had a chance to relax. 

 

Tracy (we were co-Maid-of-Honor at Leslee and Jorge's wedding) and her mom were at my table.

 The extended Minneapolis family: Carol, Gianni, Leslee, Fionna, Scottie, Laurie, Tao, and Tao's children.

I "won" this hand-made cherry inlaid bowl at the silent auction.

16 May 2013 ~ Plants

I finally got around to getting plants for my windowsill in the kitchen. Of course,  I had to make sure any plant was safe for Skye, so after doing some research, I settled on begonias, ferns, etc.

 

 

As an added bonus they make a cool shadow on the dining room wall.

 

Not as cool as the real plants outside my living room window. Great view while I'm watching TV or listening to tunes while lounging on the couch.

But the plant Skye likes the best is the Spider Plant.

I tried to find a picture of my first Lovebird, Yeşil (which means 'green' in Turkish). She used to hide under the leaves of a Spider Plant like a hawk. It was so cute. I'll keep looking...

Happy Mother's Day to All the Mother's Out There, and thanks for putting up with your kids antics.

I recently went to the Discovery Kingdom Park near Vallejo, CA.

It's been so long since I went on Roller Coasters.

I wanted to ride all them over and over and over again...just like when I was growing up and we went to Kings Dominion north of Chicago.

The palm trees were a nice addition.


 



 







I did take time to enjoy the animal exhibits also.

Good to see the pirate theme.


 This is the Superman Ride. I got front row after these folks. 

Porky found a new friend.

8 May 2013 ~ Birthday Bash

I had a party on the 27th as a birthday celebration.

My good friend Sandy played along with Stu for the entertainment factor.

It was great to have so many friends come (as well as a few neighbors).

And the weather was perfect!

I ordered food from a local BBQ place.

Never had...such a good time!

I didn't take many pictures, but I'll post more as they become available.
