31 May 2014 ~ Himalayan Fair Part II

Listening to:  Phil Gates ~ Addicted to the Blues

The Himalayan event included regional dance performances.

A colorful stage was set up.

Here is a short video of an Indian dance.

And this short video is a clip of a traditional wedding dance of Sri Lanka.

Between the dance showcases, I tried to meander through the throngs of people milling around the vendor stalls.

I found this guy's hat quite interesting. I bet it would keep the ears warm when turned down. I have not come across a hat like this one in my travels, and no one was selling them in the vendor area.

24 May 2014 ~ Blooming Rose Garden

Listening to: Delta Joe Sanders ~ I Picked It Up In The Wind

I remembered to return to the Berkeley Rose Garden in the month of May to see the flowers in bloom.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

The 31st annual Himalayan Fair was held over the weekend in Berkeley at Live Oak Park.

 Busy in the kitchen.

18 May ~ Crazy Bird Return

Listening to:  Bonobo ~ Recurring

The bird returned with a vengeance against my car.

I finally had to put "towel diapers" over my rear view mirrors.

The bird left for a few days, but then came back and for the first time I saw the bird attacking another car. At least I don't have to have the complex that it was something unique about my car.

15 May 2014 ~ Squirrel

Listening to: Harry Nilsson ~ Coconut

Watching the deer I also started noticing the squirrels more often.

It was almost as if while enjoying the nut, the squirrel was also watching the deer with me.

Enjoying every bite.

The news has reported that because we had rain in April and now it is so extremely hot, there have been numerous sightings of rattlesnakes. Honestly, I hope I don't have the opportunity to take a picture of a rattler!

11 May 2014 ~ Fawns

Listening to: Sarah Masen ~ Give A Little  Bit

Spring is in the air and the deer with fawns are active in the neighbors backyard.

It's a scene right out of the movie Bambi.

The neighbor said that deer have been living in their backyard for about 12 years. One day they were just cleaning up the back yard and made a "bed", and within a few days a deer came and had her fawn.

I also found out they have bees in the attic, which may be the swarm video I posted a while back.

Here's a short video.

10 May 2014 ~ Zipline

Listening to: Eric Clapton ~ Promises

I went ziplining for the first time! It was scary and fun at the same time.

You start out with small "chicken" runs to get used to it. And then the finale is a longer trek over water.

The hardest part for me was not gripping to tight, so I always stopped a bit short of the platform. The problem with that is you have to "pull" yourself in by doing a hand-over-hand maneuver.

Not a very fashionable look for me.

4 May 2014 ~ Cave Tubing

Listening to: Thunderclap Newman ~ Something in the Air

Sorry for the lapse in time of the blog posts. I got away for a few days with friends and I completely unplugged myself from the laptop and phone.

I went cave tubing, which was a blast.

It took about 20 minutes to walk to the cave. First glance.

Always remember to look up.

The cave was really dark, and the headlamps helped.

The water wasn't high, so some points was either scrape your butt or get out of the tube.
