27 March 2015 ~ First Encounter with Lions

Listening to: Yes ~ I've Seen All Good People

Our scout and safari guide were on the trail of lions. These paw prints were fresh.

We came upon a hill and found a male, sleeping one moment....

and up and alert a few minutes later.

A beautiful lioness.

23 March 2015 ~ Workday's Birthday

Listening to:  Deftone ~ Headup

Workday turned 10 years old this month and we had a party at AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants.

It was a sunny day.

I even got a picture opportunity with the World Series trophies.

17 March 2015 ~ Birds

Listening to: Black Uhuru ~ Happiness

I captured these two bird pictures. The clarity even surprises me.

Unfortunately I cannot find the name of either bird at the moment.

I love the colors. They make me happy.

Skye is getting better. That makes me happy too.

Listening to: Brett Dennen ~By and By

One evening for our safari break, we stopped by what became affectionately known as "Hippo Café".

But there also was a turtle enjoying the scenery.

As well as some yellow Weavers that make intricately woven nests. Usually the male birds weave the nests and use them as a form of display to lure prospective females.

We had to keep our eyes open once the hippos started exiting the swim hole at dusk.

14 March 2015 ~ Mocho-Choco-Roco

Listening to: Ray Charles & Norah Jones ~ Here We Go Again

During our morning safari drives, we'd stop for a snack and Mocho-Choco-Roco. This is a cup of coffee, hot chocolate and amarula. Tasty!

Amarula is made from the exotic marula fruit, found only on the sub-Saharan plains of Africa, where it grows in the wild for just a few weeks of the year. Not just totally delicious, it’s also rich in vitamin C, potassium, calcium and magnesium, as well as protein.

Here is our scout ready to mix up a batch.

While our true scout was busy making us our MCRs, Kathy took the helm.
