3 Mar 2012 ~ Huasi Night Market
Listening to: Ane Brun ~ Do You Remember (It All Starts With One)
The Huasi Tourist Night Market is more famously known as "Snake Alley".
Once notorious for snake restaurants, brothels, shady fortune-tellers, and assorted tricksters, the market is now a major promoted tourist attraction. I did see 2 snake restaurants, but could not take pictures. There was also a stall selling turtle blood. But my guide admitted to never trying it.
It's reallly a covered bazaar, with local artists, and general restaurants and more conventional eateries, as well as general souvenir shops.
One shop was selling beetle nuts, chewed as gum.
Leaving Snake Alley we entered another Night Market, generally open from 6pm - 2am.
Take a walk through the market with me and my guide Thomas as we explore dried fish vendors, clothing and fruit stands.
