5 Mar 2012 ~ Longshan Temple

Listening to: Otis Redding ~ Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay

Happy Birthday!!

Longshan (Dragon Mountain) Temple is one of Taiwan's oldest, being originally built in 1738. It survived an 1815 earthquake, a typhoon in 1867, and Allied bombers in 1945. Lanterns surround the temple.

The courtyard still has "lanterns" from the festival ending Chinese New Year.

Exquisite detail of stone sculptures, woodcarvings and bronze work are found here. The temple consists of 3 halls, which should be entered through the small gate on the right.

This is the Deity for Match-Making. After praying here it is said the perfect mate will be found within 3 months (lots of parents come on behalf of their children).
