8 Mar 2012 ~ Taipei 101

Listening to: Sean Bones ~ Here Now (Here Now)
I've now made it to 3 of the top 5 tallest buildings in the world in 3 months!

This is the Taipei 101 Building.

According to the sign, the shape of "Taipei 101 looks like durable bamboo successively growing and also resembles blossoming flowers bringing honors and richness. The architects symbolized this building as continuous life cycle of the traditional Chinese architecture."

Certified by the Guinness Book of Records, it contains the fastest elevators in the world, taking 37 seconds to go from the 5th floor to the 88th floor.

Unfortunately, it was misting and we could not go outside nor was the view worth anything due to the fog. But here's a replica of the view I should have seen.

Being a tourist spot, we had to have our pictures taken in hopes of them selling a souvenir, but I just took a picture of the picture.

This is a damper, one of the few exposed in any building. The job of which is to swing and absorb the shocks from typhoons and earthquakes. it is 550 cm in height and weights 660 metric tons.
